If they don't catch something in a narrative structure, it doesn't get remembered very well, and it doesn't seem to be accessible for further kinds of mulling over.
First, to come up with an interesting question, children must usually consider numerous preliminary questions, and this itself is a useful exercise.
Second, children who come up with interesting questions have more fun with the assignment and devote more energy to it.
Third, dhildren who poses an intersting question is more likely to tell others about it.
